Data Retention and Deletion

PRIVACUT does not intentionally store source PDFs, submitted text, findings, manual redaction regions, or generated documents on its servers. Browser workspace data is cleared after verified download, explicit reset, replacement, or page close. Extracted text is processed ephemerally by the bounded detection API.

Active accounts

Account, subscription, entitlement, usage, and purchased-credit metadata is retained while the account is active and while needed to provide the service or resolve its billing state.

Guest allowance

Before sign-in, the monthly free-operation count is kept in a signed, content-free browser cookie rather than an account database record. The cookie expires automatically and can be removed through browser controls. It does not contain document text or detected values.

Ordinary and operational metadata

Eligible data is deleted immediately when safe. When temporary retention is necessary, ordinary closed or dormant account metadata and privacy-safe operational, audit, and security metadata have a maximum target retention of 30 days. Automated runs are idempotent and do not read document content.

Financial records

Transaction, subscription, credit-ledger, refund, dispute, chargeback, fraud-prevention, tax, and accounting records are a separate category. They are retained only as legitimately necessary for those purposes and applicable legal requirements, not automatically deleted after 30 days. No universal duration is claimed.

Export, deletion, and recovery

Signed-in users can export their allowlisted account metadata. Account deletion is available after active or unresolved subscriptions end and removes eligible account data and credits; normalized billing records may remain de-identified. Provider recovery windows may temporarily preserve recoverable database state, and restored data remains subject to these same controls.
